Dig Out

Dig Out is a surrealist 2D platformer that transcends convention, inviting players to explore the depths of the human psyche through the fragmented memories of Echo, an entity that awakens without recollection in a dreamlike world of impossible geometries. Navigating landscapes inspired by Dalí, Ernst and De Chirico, the player balances movement and contemplation, losing vital essences that affect mobility and recovering them through meditation, while confronting creatures that embody primal phobias – from Echoil which distorts perceptions to Slumbersome which manipulates gravity itself.

More than a game, Dig Out is a psychoanalytic session where each ephemeral platform, kaleidoscopic portal, and transmutable enemy represents an aspect of repressed trauma, mirroring that childhood sensation of becoming lost in a suddenly vast and threatening world. Through enigmatic dialogue with Augur and the collection of memory fragments, the player seeks not to eliminate suffering but to integrate it – gradually transforming the scenery not into utopia, but into a balance between light and shadow that reflects the acceptance of our pains as essential parts of who we are, in a journey that questions the meaning of existence and celebrates the beauty found in the continuous process of self-discovery.
